Large welding curtain system

Leeds Council Fleet Services had a requirement for a large, retractable curtain system to allow welding work on bin lorries to be carried out, while protecting personnel in the facility from welding arc.  The protection was required for both personnel on the shop floor, for staff working on top of adjacent vehicles and for staff in a first floor office.

The welding curtain system was to be suspended from a ceiling-mounted track.  Through our distribution network, we designed and supplied a welding curtain system to fit the space within the facility, and which fulfilled the safety requirements outlined by the health and safety guidelines of the department.

The Solution

The system was designed using our TWG1 Tusker Weld Green  curtain material.

The curtain spanned 15m on one side, 11m on the the sides with a 4.8m drop with eyelets at the top.  Press studs were added to the bottom 1.85m to join.
