New College Swindon was created by the merger of New College with Swindon College in August 2020.  The college offers various engineering courses, and required a sonic welding bay system for a new welding technology training facility.

We were approached by our distributor, West Country Welding, to design a system suitable for the facility.  We designed a 12 booth system (2 rows of 6 booths 2.0m x 2.0m) with acoustic properties to significantly reduce noise levels.

We designed a 12 bay system, separated with sonic modular elements that are mounted with adjustable feet to the floor.  The front of each welding booth consists of 2 x slideable strip segments mounted in double rails.  The booths are mounted on one side against existing wall structures.

The sonic sound absorbing walls are constructed with black glass fibre, sound absorbing mineral wool and sheet steel with perforated steel plate on both sides.  Our sonic wall systems not only produce sound attenuation, but also effective noise reduction in the wider working environment, enabling companies to comply with applicable noise level standards.

Total sound reduction is 26dB.
