Working through one of our distribution partners, West Country Welding, we designed and installed a welding partition within a defence engineering setting. This international defence company, working in the areas of marine, nuclear, land and aviation defence, required a partition within one of their engineering facilities.
The partition was required to compartmentalise a welding area, with a continuous span of 40 metres, but without any returns in the design, in order to allow forklift access. The challenge was to develop a solution, whilst maintaining stability over this long span area.
We designed a bespoke secondary support bracket to provide the necessary stability for this partition. Due to the additional challenge of the partition being in an area with an uneven floor surface, the secondary supports featured adjustable parts, allowing for height differences in the floor surface to be overcome.
The partition also featured a 4 metre sliding door system for ease of access.
Requirement:
Continous span 40m welding strip curtain, 3.2m drop, to compartmentalise a welding area and create a walkway. No returns in the design, to allow for forklift access.
Solution:
Heavy duty stanchion system. Stanchions, 50mm box section, powder coated, 2.5m apart on the whole span. Tusker overhead track with 300mm welding PVC strip curtaining suspended with galvanised steel platesets. To stabilise, adjustable secondary supports fixed to the floor in 6 positions. Sliding door system 4m, with solid welding PVC curtain. Full design and install by Tusker Industrial Safety.
All components comply to the welding standard EN25980/2014.
